The exhibition title Signal/Drift
comes from recent and past artwork titles I have used that speak to my process of making the work and also the way they may be viewed: While making a piece there are signals
(physical and visual) that inform my approach and the direction the work will take – this is a crucial aspect to the discipline of my studio practice: the reading and responding to these signals that present themselves. Drift
is both the way a form, shape or colour will statically situate in the composition and yet have movement – the dynamics of the painting. I relate these poetic words to the paintings but they are also metaphors for living one’s life.
